The Ominous Side of The Chainsmokers

April 2, 2018 • MichaelPollackWins

If you’re like me, you’ve been waiting a while for the next release of The Chainsmokers. Wait no longer! After a long nine month interval the EDM/ POP duo has finally come back with a new ominous and dark tone in the new hit single “Sick Boy,” a fascinating turn around from the upbeat and romantic nature of their earlier tracks. This sensational band has started to evolve their sound to how they are perceiving themselves and society as a whole.

The chart breaking doupoly known as the Chainsmokers consist of two Goliath music producers named Alex Pall and Drew Taggart. The dynamic duo met while working and attending school in the New York area. From there the pair started working on remixes of indie bands for a brief period of time. Shortly after, The Chainsmokers broke their first Billboard Hot 100 list with the single “Roses”. What comes next is an onslaught of hit after hit releases such as, “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Paris”, “Closer”, and their second most recent hit featuring Cold Play “Something Just Like This”. With such a staggering portfolio already at hand, the Chainsmokers had a large set of shoes to fill with their next release; they accomplished this task with the new hit single “Sick Boy”

Already this new release of The Chainsmoker’s “Sick Boy”, is breaking charts not only in the U.S but in other countries around the world. This enchanting melody explores the constant exposure that all of us now live with in the world of social media. Its critical thoughts portray the narcissistic nature that social media inflicts upon society, while showing that this narcissism isn’t directly a bad feature. If used correctly, it can help show all of us what exactly defines each of us as individuals. This will render us more capable to make positive changes about ourselves. The Chainsmoker’s new song leaves me satiated musically and intellectually, while leaving me anxious for more.
